Go2.ws Terms of Use

Thanks for using go2.ws. We make short links and QR codes that are quick to create, simple to manage and safer to follow.

These Terms are here to keep expectations clear. Please use the service responsibly and never use it to deceive or harm people.

The service is free. A link or account is permission to use go2.ws, not something you own. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we may refuse, restrict, suspend or remove any link, QR code, API access or account at any time, for any reason, without warning. We do not have to investigate, explain our decision, provide an appeal or restore anything.

We work hard to make go2.ws dependable, but please do not make it the only route to something important. Keep your own records and fallback plans.

Nothing in these Terms removes rights that the law does not allow us to remove.

1. A quick introduction

go2.ws is an independent online service operated from the United Kingdom.

“We”, “us” and “our” mean go2.ws and its operator. “You” means anyone creating or managing a link, QR code or account, or using the API. Merely following a go2.ws link does not make a visitor a party to these Terms.

2. Using go2.ws means accepting these Terms

By creating or managing a link, generating a QR code, opening an account or using the API, you agree to these Terms.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we use personal information. It is a notice, not something we ask you to agree to as part of these Terms.

If you use go2.ws for a client, employer or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to agree on its behalf.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these Terms where you live to create links, hold an account or use the API.

You are also responsible for making sure that your use of go2.ws is lawful where you live and wherever you distribute your links or QR codes.

3. What you can do with go2.ws

go2.ws currently provides:

• short links that redirect to a destination chosen by the creator;
• a gateway that can show visitors where a link leads;
• QR codes that resolve through go2.ws links;
• accounts for managing links and gateway settings; and
• a documented API.

The service is currently free. We may add, change or remove features. We will not charge you without clearly presenting the price and obtaining any agreement required by law.

4. A free service, with clear limits

We built go2.ws to be fast, dependable and useful, and we take that seriously. Because the service is free, however, we need the freedom to protect it, change it and decide what we host.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we may refuse, restrict, suspend, redirect, place behind a gateway or permanently remove any link, short code, QR code, account or API credential:

• at any time;
• for any reason, including no reason we are required to state;
• with or without notice; and
• with or without giving you an explanation or opportunity to appeal.

We are not required to preserve, recover, transfer or replace anything we remove. We may act automatically or manually and do not have to complete an investigation first.

This can apply even when you have not deliberately done anything wrong. Security signals can be incomplete, destinations can change and situations are not always clear. We may also act because of complaints, legal or reputational risk, service limits, inactivity or technical changes.

You do not own a go2.ws short code, and its previous availability does not guarantee future availability. If you print, broadcast or permanently distribute a free link, please do so with that risk in mind.

Paid services may have different commitments under separate terms. None apply to this free service.

5. Why we show the gateway

Short links and QR codes are wonderfully convenient, but they can also hide their destination. That is why we may show visitors a gateway before redirecting them.

Registered link owners may be able to switch it off. We can switch it back on or require a warning at any time.

The gateway gives a visitor a moment to see where they are going. It does not mean that we have checked, approved or guaranteed the destination. Visitors still need to decide whether they recognise and trust it.

6. Your links, your responsibility

You choose where your links lead, so you are responsible for every destination, link and QR code you create or control.

Only create or share a link when:

• you are entitled to share the destination;
• the destination and campaign are lawful;
• the link is not misleading;
• you have permission to use the names, brands, content and data involved; and
• you are not suggesting that go2.ws endorses the destination.

A QR code depends on its go2.ws link. If that link changes or stops working, so will the QR code.

Do not put passwords, API keys, authentication tokens or sensitive personal information into short codes or URLs. URLs can appear in logs, analytics and browser histories.

7. Looking after your account and links

Please keep your account and API credentials secure. You are responsible for activity performed through them, and we ask that you tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use.

Anonymous links may have fewer controls and may be impossible to recover. Opening an account later does not prove that you created an earlier anonymous link.

Deleting an account and deleting its public links may be separate actions. Remove links you no longer want before closing your account, or contact us if the available controls are insufficient.

8. Please use go2.ws well

Most people use go2.ws exactly as intended. To keep it useful for everyone, do not use it for anything illegal, deceptive, abusive or likely to harm people, systems or the reputation of the service.

This includes:

• phishing, impersonation, credential theft, malware, fraud or scams;
• spam or unsolicited bulk messaging;
• hiding a destination to evade security tools, platform rules or enforcement;
• child sexual abuse or exploitation;
• terrorist content, recruitment, instruction or facilitation;
• threats, harassment, stalking, hatred or incitement of violence;
• non-consensual intimate imagery;
• infringement of copyright, trademarks, privacy or other rights;
• unlawful goods, services or instructions;
• bypassing gateways, limits or security controls;
• automated creation outside the documented API; or
• attacking, probing, scraping, overloading or disrupting go2.ws.

This list gives examples, not loopholes. A simple rule applies: if a use is unsafe, unlawful, dishonest or unreasonably risky, go2.ws is not the place for it.

9. Building with the API

We are pleased to see people build go2.ws into websites, applications and campaign workflows. You are welcome to use the documented API for that purpose.

Follow the documentation and rate limits, protect your credentials, and make sure every generated link complies with these Terms. Do not use the API to bypass safety controls or create links at abusive scale.

We may change limits, revoke credentials or alter the API at any time. Where practical, we will give notice of changes likely to break ordinary integrations, but we do not guarantee notice or backwards compatibility for the free API.

10. Keeping the service safe

We use a mixture of automated systems, external security services and, where needed, human review to identify suspicious links and activity.

We may block, warn, restrict, suspend, remove, preserve records or report activity where we consider it appropriate or where the law requires it.

We do not promise to review every link or detect every threat. A working link is not an approval from go2.ws.

If something looks wrong, please tell us. To report an unsafe, unlawful or infringing link, visit https://go2.ws/report or email dpo@go2.ws. Include the full link, why you are concerned and any useful evidence.

11. What belongs to whom

You keep ownership of material you submit.

You allow us to host, copy, process, display and transmit it as needed to operate the service, display the gateway, investigate abuse, improve security and comply with law.

go2.ws, its software, design, branding and documentation belong to us or our licensors. Using the service does not transfer those rights to you.

12. When a link takes you elsewhere

The whole point of a go2.ws link is to take someone to another website or service. Those destinations are run by other people.

We do not control or endorse them and are not responsible for their content, security, availability, products, statements or privacy practices. You visit them at your own discretion and under any terms provided by their operator.

13. Reliability and change

We design go2.ws for reliability, but no online service is perfect. We cannot promise that the service, or any link, gateway, QR code, account, analytics or API, will always be available, accurate, uninterrupted, secure or unchanged.

Maintenance, faults, attacks, suppliers, legal requirements and events outside our control may interrupt the service. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we may change, limit or end any part of it without notice.

If a link matters to packaging, signage, broadcast media or another long-lived campaign, please keep a fallback plan. The free service does not include an uptime promise, service level agreement or continuity commitment.

14. Where responsibility sits

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where the law does not allow it, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Your statutory rights are not affected.

If you are a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for business losses arising from consumer use or losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.

If you use go2.ws for business, then to the fullest extent allowed by law:

• the free service comes without warranties beyond these Terms;
• we are not liable for lost profit, revenue, business, contracts, savings, goodwill or data, or for indirect or consequential loss; and
• our total liability connected with the free service will not exceed £100.

If your unlawful use or serious breach causes us a loss or third-party claim, you are responsible for the reasonable resulting costs to the extent allowed by law. This applies particularly when you use go2.ws for a business or client.

15. If these Terms change

The service, the law and the risks around links can all change, so these Terms may need to change too. The latest version will always show its date.

Where practical, we will notify registered users of a material change. Changes apply from the stated effective date and do not retrospectively remove rights that have already arisen.

If you continue creating or managing links, generating QR codes or using the API after updated Terms take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using those features.

16. Law, questions and getting in touch

These Terms and any non-contractual dispute connected with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer, this choice does not remove any mandatory protection given to you by the law where you live. You may also be entitled to bring a claim in your local courts.

If you use go2.ws for business, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes connected with these Terms or the service.

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A delay in enforcing a term does not waive it.
